The reproduction of Guernica in tapestry
1
0
Jacqueline de La Baume followed an apprenticeship in tapestry in 1949. An excellent designer, she perfectly interprets the works of the great Cubist masters.
Picasso spotted her and authorized her to reproduce 3 copies of his work Guernica. The first copy is deposited at the United Nations in New York, where it has been displayed in the Security Council Chamber since 1985.. The Unterlinden Museum decides on the acquisition of the second masterpiece in 1979. The third tapestry was acquired in 1996 by the Gunma Museum of Modern Art in Takasaki, Japan. The three copies of Guernica were made in eleven shades of wool.
