The record-breaking aircraft

If the supersonic Concorde aircraft has had such an impact on aviation, it is also because of the many records it has set. In 1995, for example, the Concorde F-BTSD Sierra Delta on display at the Musée de l’Air et de l’Espace (Air and Space Museum) flew around the world from east to west in 22 hours 46 minutes, including 18 hours 46 minutes in supersonic flight. In all, the International Aeronautical Federation (IAF) has recorded no less than 180 world records, including two round-the-world speed records. The Concorde was powered by four Rolls-Royce/SNECMA Olympus 593 MK 610 turbojet engines. They each produced 17.4 tonnes of thrust at take-off.
