The ramparts promenade

The ramparts promenade still surrounds the old town of Antibes. It runs along the Gravette beach and leads to Port Vauban, passing in front of the Picasso museum located in one of the best-preserved towers of the medieval enclosure. The rest of the fortifications were dismantled during the 19th century. This decision accompanied the tourism development of the French Riviera, the increasing urbanization of the coast and Cap d'Antibes, and the creation of the seaside resort of Juan-les-Pins in 1882.
