To shape a glass piece from a mass of molten glass, the master glassmaker first collects the mass of glass on his cane from the furnace. He then successively blows the glass, cools it, reheats it in the furnace, or even adds more molten glass to the mass. The glassmaker can repeat all these steps until obtaining the desired shape.
