The pozzines of the Lake of Creno
One of the characteristics of the Lake of Creno are the pozzines, a vegetative cover from alpine wetlands. They are home to a rare and protected species, the round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia). This a carnivorous plant. Its name comes from the Greek "Droseros" which means "covered with dew". It owes its name to the sticky droplets produced by its glandular hairs to capture insects.
