0
Quickly considered a heresy by the Roman Church, the Cathar religion and its followers suffered persecutions, forced conversions, sieges, and massacres. Cathars don’t fold easily, and the murder of the prelate Pierre de Castelnau is a pretext to launch the crusade against the Albigensians (other name given to the Cathars because of their presence in Albi). This crusade lasts 20 years (1209-1229). It involves several sieges and massacres, including Beziers, Toulouse, and Carcassonne.
