Nestled to the west of Paris in the 16th arrondissement, the Parc des Princes is a legendary stadium that hosts sporting events – matches and finals of the French football cup and the French rugby championship, international football matches – and large-scale concerts. Built in the middle of the 19th century, the stadium and velodrome was inaugurated in 1897. It was enlarged several times and hosted its first football match in 1932. The current building – with a capacity of 47,926 spectators – was rebuilt in 1972, following the construction of the Boulevard Périphérique (ring road). It became the home stadium of the Paris Saint-Germain club in 1974.
