In addition to its two covered halls, the Cité du Train created a 4 acres (16,000 m²) outdoor space. Three areas divide it: the Quai de Cluny (Cluny's Platform), reserved for permanent exhibitions, the technical area that proposes train-related activities, and the temporary exhibition tracks. On the edge of the Panorama Ferroviaire (Railroad panorama), they allow presenting pieces of equipment for several weeks. From April to October, they display various elements otherwise stored in the reserve building of the Cité du Train.
