Near La Hague, the dunes of Biville form a massif of nearly 1 482 acres (600 hectares). Present for more than 10,000 years, they run for almost 7 miles (11 km) in the Baie de Vauville. Between 10 and 32 ft high (3 to 10 m), some rise to 374 ft (114 m) above sea level. The dunes of Biville are home to great plant and animal diversity as more than 180 species grow and live on the only crescent dunes in France.
