The ochers of the Provençal Colorado

Rustrel and its famous Provençal Colorado, resembling the Far West, extend over 74 acres (30 ha) between the hill of Caseneuve and the Monts de Vaucluse. The natural ochres of the Luberon region appear in a range of colors and reliefs shaped by nature and men who exploited them for decades to make pigments. Since the end of quarrying in 1990, the site of Rustrel has remained unoccupied.
