The North Shore Regiment

On the seafront of the Norman village of Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer stands The North Shore Regiment monument. Composed of several stelae, it pays tribute to the memory of the Canadian soldiers of the North Shore Regiment and the 48th Royal Marine Commando who died on Juno Beach on June 6, 1944. Their names appear on either side of the monument on slabs carved into the shape of open books. The memorial also honors the memory of the twenty-one civilian victims of the village.
