The Louis Vuitton Foundation building breaks with traditional structural norms. Bernard Arnault, chairman of the LVMH group, and the architect Frank Gehry agreed immediately on the construction of a museum of the impossible. It took eight years to complete and the work of many architects to raise this vessel with twelve curved sails from the ground. The museum emerges on the borders of the Bois de Boulogne and the Jardin d’Acclimatation, its prow pointing towards the business district of La Défense, whose towers have more conventional albeit modern forms.
