The multiple uses of flax
0
0
Every part of the harvested flax has potential use, and the flower is exploitable from root to tip. The long fibers are combed until turning as fine as hairs and shipped to become flexible fabrics for the textile industry. The shorter fibers, or tows, will enter composite materials adapted to design, sports, transport, or construction. Entirely biodegradable, linen fibers have the particularity of being resistant to both humidity and abrasion and having flame retardant properties.
