The mountain of La Meije

La Meije is a mountain in the northwest of the Écrins massif, located at the border of the Hautes-Alpes and Isère departments, south of the village of La Grave. Composed of three main peaks including Le Doigt de Dieu or Pic Central de la Meije (13,034ft/3,973m) and La Meije Orientale (12,765ft/3,891m), it culminates at the Grand Pic de la Meije at 13067ft (3,983m). La Meije dales, visible in the foreground of this summer photo, pass at the foot of the Meije and Râteau glaciers and form La Grave off-piste ski area from 4,593 to 11,679ft (1,400 to 3,560m).
