Located in the 15th arrondissement, the tallest skyscraper in Paris dominates all of Paris at 209 metres. In 2011, the First Tower (231 metres) in La Défense claimed the title of highest tower in France. Built on the site of the former Montparnasse station, the tower was inaugurated in 1973. In 2017, it was decided to renovate it and an international architectural competition was launched. The winning project consists of a bioclimatic metamorphosis of the facade, which should make the building brighter and self-sufficient in water thanks to a recovery system and vegetation. Work is scheduled to begin in September 2022.
