The ‘Mondial du Vent’ (World Wind Sports Competition)

Every year during the Easter period, the Mondial du Vent (World Wind Sports Competition) is held on the beach La Franqui in Leucate. The international wind sports elite meet in the Aude department for this event. The competition was created in 1996 and has since become the premier kitesurfing and windsurfing event in France. The Leucate spot is renowned and world-famous because the slightest breath of air strengthens the tramontana and provides the necessary winds for these competitions.
