The territory of the municipality of Minihic-sur-Rance covers 391 hectares on the left bank of the Rance river, in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine. Located about ten kilometres from Saint-Malo, the commune of 1,483 inhabitants (2019) is separated from the Côtes-d’Armor by the Houssaye stream. Le Minihic-sur-Rance developed in the 19th and early 20th centuries thanks to the establishment of wooden shipbuilding yards, which are now disused. In the cove of La Landriais (photo), a wooden dry dock was used to keep boats dry for the time needed for repairs. Abandoned in the 1930s, the dock has now been restored.
