The medieval alleys of Gorbio

0
Massed around the 12th-century tower of Lascaris castle and surrounded by walls, the old village of Gorbio has retained the medieval character of its arches and vaults and its lancet entrance door. Walking the cobbled streets, paved in the 17th century, allows discovering the rich historical and religious heritage of the village. Visitors can also gaze at its old communal bread oven from the 17th century, its old oil mill, its washhouse, and its fountains. Each June, the alleys are adorned with flowered altars that mark out the path of the penitents during the procession of the traditional Fête des Limaces (Slug Festival).
