The traditional monoï - called the 'mamas' monoï' - is made by the inhabitants of Fatu Hiva in the Marquesas with cold pressed virgin coconut oil according to an artisanal process. It is obtained from freshly grated coconut almond and hand-pressed coconut milk, mixed into a preparation which has to rest in the sun to produce the precious oil.
