The manual harvest of Burgundy
0
0
In Burgundy, rare are the wineries that use machines to harvest the bunches of grapes. Most of the harvests are done manually. The seasonal pickers are selected by the farm’s owners. Depending on the size of the vineyard, the harvest lasts between 15 and 20 days with about 20 seasonal workers. The bunches are cut and placed carefully in baskets and collected by the carriers. This convivial and festive period promises the participants a good atmosphere. Most seasonal workers come back every year.
