Consisting of a vast wetland of 74,131 acres (30,000 ha), the Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park - the main nesting area in Normandy - hosts a colony of storks present all year round of seventy wintering individuals. This colony multiplies during the nesting period. In 2020, 228 breeding pairs were thus counted and gave birth to 405 fledglings. Migratory returns extend from Christmas to April, with experienced couples returning between January and the end of March and the youngest ones arriving last, between mid-March and the end of April.
