The Tortoise Village of Carnoules - the third most visited site in the Var department - is the main funding body for the SOPTOM association (Station for the Observation and Protection of Tortoises and their Environments). It is followed by the memberships and the sale of objects and documents. The entrance fees paid by the more than 110,000 annual visitors make it possible to continue the scientific and conservation action on Hermann's tortoises led by SOPTOM for more than 30 years.
