The imposing fireplace in the living room of the Villa Majorelle looks like a large sideboard topped by a two-part stained-glass window. The furniture is decorated with pine cones, a symbol of wealth, with two mirrors above. The original stained-glass window by Jacques Grüber, composed of flowers and perched owls, was destroyed by a bombardment in 1916. The son of Louis Majorelle, an oriental art enthusiast, asked to replace it with a stained-glass window in Moorish style.
