Arinthod is a small town in the Jura department nestled at an altitude of 1,456 feet (444 meters) in the Petite Montagne region of southern Franche-Comté. It encompasses three hamlets - Le Moulin, Vogna and Néglia - on a territory of 1,976 hectares, of which 823 are covered with forests. The linden on which is affixed this plaque which recalls the date on which the tree was planted is, for its part, located on the site of Robert Marichy's turnery, in Néglia.
