Along with the Golden Islands, the island of Porquerolles is part of the Mediterranean archipelago of Hyères, off the Var coast. About 4.35 mi (7 km) long and 1.8 mi (3 km) wide, it covers an area of 7.7 sqm (12.54 km²), which makes it the largest of the archipelago's islands. Located 1.6 mi (2.6 km) south-east of the Giens peninsula and 12.4 mi (20.1 km) west of the easternmost Levant island, Porquerolles is also the most westerly of the islands of Hyères.
