The king of Alsace's wines
0
0
Riesling is the king of Alsace's wines. Capturing the minerality of the terroir, it grows on the Schoenenbourg hillside overlooking Riquewihr. The region's secondary grape varieties are Gewurztraminer, Muscat à Petits Grains, Muscat Ottonel, and Pinot Gris. The Alsatian vineyard extends along the Vosges on the hills located at the foot of the mountain range. Between the Vosges and Rhine, a set of faults crisscrosses the area in a patchwork of clay-limestone soils.
