The Jubilee's door

In 2020, the solemn opening of the small door leading to the tomb of Saint Odile marked the beginning of the Mont's Great Jubilee. The celebrations occurred exactly 1,300 years after the death of the patroness saint of Alsace. The door stands between the Chapel of the Cross and the Chapel of the Tomb. The Romanesque floral decorations engraved on its lintel are the oldest in the sanctuary. They date from the 10th century. The rosettes on each side symbolize purity, love, and light.
