The fruit of the jack tree (Artocarpus heterophyllus) is called the jackfruit. Depending on the variety, it may remain hard and firm when ripe, have a softer flesh or a more or less sweet juice. The flavor of its yellow-orange flesh is reminiscent of pineapple and mango. To taste it, you must first remove the white seeds which are toxic when raw.
