The intimacy of man with the stone, the different dimensions of the imagination of the stone and its architecture, the values that man associates with it as well as the impact of time on it are reflected in the Guédelon construction site. The stone is omnipresent in a functional and daily use which would make it almost invisible if the stonemasons of Guédelon did not put it back in the foreground. Enhanced by the hand of man and his tools, it conveys values of nobility, rusticity, authenticity, age, and beauty and highlights the moral virtues of humility and patience of those who shape it. The stonemasons of Guédelon speak of a singular dialogue with the stone and sometimes even evoke a fight and, in any case, an assumed interaction with it.
