The Mediterranean basin and its wetlands are a place of biodiversity and real reservoirs of life. About 2,500 species of vertebrates are found here, as well as up to 10% of the world's vascular plant species. And if this environment of paramount ecological importance occupies only 2% of the area of the region, a quarter of these species depend on it for their survival. Unfortunately, due to the many threats to these wetlands, one in three species is endangered.
