The impact of human activities on the lakes

Experts have described the disturbances experienced by the three lakes of the Vosges. Studies in limnology, hydrobiology, or paleoenvironment highlight the progressive impact of human activities since 1700. With an accentuation around 1930, this influence keeps increasing and particularly affects marine lifeforms. The floating-rooted aquatic meadows have, for example, been mostly eradicated in the Gérardmer and Longemer lakes from the end of the 1940s. A consequence of repeated mowing by leisure boats abounding on these waters.
