The Imbut trail: the most technical hike
0
0
The Imbut trail is one of the most beautiful hikes of the Verdon gorges, but surely the most technical and the most difficult. It allows to reach the funnel (“Imbuq” in Provençal language) where the Verdon disappears under a huge chaos of blocks to resurface upstream of the ‘baou Béni’ (in Provence, a baou is a cliff). The path passes next to the oldest Thuriferous juniper (Juniperus thurifera) of the Verdon. For safety reasons, it is imperative to inquire before leaving about the water release schedule which could suddenly increase the flow of the river.
