The common spruce (Picea abies) is a high tree, up to 164 feet (50 meters) in the forests of Jura. Its silhouette is one of the most identifiable and retains its conical shape, more or less wide depending on the altitude, throughout its life which can reach four hundred years. It presents a very regular pyramidal crown, especially in isolated individuals.
