The iconic Camargue horse
0
0
The emblem of the wild lands of Camargue in the same way as the bull or the flamingo, the Camargue horse made of mistral, salt and courage is one of the oldest horse breeds in the world. Renowned for its robustness and white horsehair, it has lived in half-freedom in the marshes and enganes (salty meadows) for centuries and in freedom in the Rhône delta since prehistoric times. The Camargue horse adapts perfectly to the excesses of the local climate - violent winds, humidity, biting cold in winter, great heat and insects in summer - and protects itself from the mistral by keeping its neckline low and forward to prevent the humid wind from entering its nostrils.
