The huge tower of Capitello

Since the 16th century, the Genoese tower of Capitello has been watching over the Mediterranean sea from its 11 m (36 ft) high. This huge monument is built on a rocky area on the south shore of the Gulf of Ajaccio, near the hamlet of Porticcio. It has a circumference of 42 m (138 ft) which ranks it among the largest Genoese towers in Corsica.
