The history of wine bottle labels
A wine bottle label is strictly regulated. Four elements are required. The first is the name of the castle, the estate, or the winegrower. The second is the appellation, which allows knowing where the wine comes from and what is the method of production. The third is the bottling method. Finally, could appears the legal elements such as the degree of alcohol. Optional elements may be mentioned too such as the vintage, medals, mention of great wine, or the method of cultivation (as organic culture). At Château du Clos de Vougeot the quality is guaranteed by the seal of Tastevinage.
