The heritage of a prosperous past

The rural commune of Clécy in the Calvados department became the capital of Norman Switzerland in 1932 and obtained the 'Village of Character' label in 2018. Its heritage, which includes the 16th-century castle of La Landelle and manor of Placy as well as a viaduct of 1866 and several museums, testifies to a prosperous past. As for the Saint-Pierre church visible here, it dates from the 15th century. Built on a medieval stronghold, it was remodeled during the second half of the 19th century at the instigation of Abbott Beaudron, the village priest at the time.
