The Henry and Isabel Goüin Library

Situated in the former chapter house, the Henry and Isabel Goüin Library has nothing in common with the medieval library. Founded in 1938, the library holds around 23,000 books, which come from several donations and purchases made by the Royaumont Foundation. In addition to the collection of the philosopher Paul Desjardins, works from the collections of Henri Bergson, Jean Cassou, Henry and Isabel Goüin and Benjamin Fondane have been included. The ancient collection (from 1514 to 1810) consists mainly of books on theology and history, while the modern collection (up to the 1970s) concerns literature and the humanities.
