The heart of Voh

New Caledonia has 77 sq miles (200 km2) of mangrove, a semi-terrestrial, semi-aquatic forest 26 ft to 32 ft (8 to 10 m) high but very dense. It is mainly found on the west coast of Grande Terre. Halophytic plants (plants used to salty soils), mainly mangroves, take advantage of the tides. Bare and too salty expanses that are called tannes sometimes draw clearings like the heart of Voh.
