During the harvest, each role is clearly defined. The picker selects the bunches of grapes that are neither too green nor too ripe, he cuts them using shears, and puts them into a bucket. Once it is full, usually weighing around 10 kilos, the carrier picks it up and pours the grapes into his hood, which can contain up to 6 or 7 buckets. He then empties his hood’s contents into the larger harvest wagon. In a day, a carrier may shoulder around 3 to 4,000 kilos of grapes.
