The Angels Chapel is also called Hanging Chapel (Hängende Kapelle) because of its location on the most advanced rocky spur of the terrace. It stands above a precipice it overlooks on three sides. In the past, you could get around the edifice. A popular belief was attached to it. According to some, a young girl who went around the chapel nine times was sure to get married in the same year. Some also said that the pilgrims who made the same tour reaped all the fruits of the pilgrimage. A metal gate was installed in 1865 under canon Nicolas Schir, who wanted to end this dangerous tradition.
