The blowing cane serves as a support for the blown glass piece until the end of its manufacture. In order to separate the finished work from the blowing cane, the glassmaker needs to break the junction between the stick and the object with a sharp movement of the wrist. A halo-shaped mark at the contact spot will recall that the glass piece was crafted by a master glassmaker.
