The large rose window of Reims Cathedral consists of a 39 ft wide (12 m) lace of stones. Similar to a divine eye bringing light inside the monument, it symbolizes eternity as it has no beginning or end. The rose window is composed of 12 parts referring to the 12 apostles and the 12 tribes of Israel. It stands surrounded by statues representing the pilgrims of Emmaus, witnesses of the resurrection of Christ.
