Inspired in 2005 to Nicolas Vannier and Henry Kam by the legendary Yukon Quest which takes place in Alaska and Yukon, the Great Odyssey Savoie-Mont-Blanc (LGO) is an international long-distance dog sled race through the Alpine massif. Very demanding, it covers in twelve days and ten stages more than 621 miles (1,000 km) - including 372 miles (600 km) of created tracks - and 98,425 feet (30,000 m) of cumulative elevation gain. Its last edition brought together 68 mushers and their 600 dog-athletes from France, Switzerland, Spain, Germany and Italy.
