The Grand Palais’ pale Reseda green

Between 1994 and 2005, the nave was closed for extensive renovation work. The steel structure had suffered from the effects of time and rust. The rivets were badly damaged, as was the glass roof. The steel structure of the dome was being consolidated. All of the original 188,368 sq. ft. (17,500 m²) of frosted wired glass was replaced with laminated glass. Fifteen thousand rivets were replaced and 1076,391 sq. ft. (110,000 m²) of surface area was repainted. Thanks to its archives, the Ripolin paint company was able to find the original paint reference, a pale Reseda green. The entire steel structure was repainted in this shade.
