The Grand Palais’ nave

The Grand Palais takes us back more than a hundred years, to the heyday of the World Fairs. Built to last, it is the culmination of eclecticism in architecture, mixing classicism and Art Nouveau, metal structures and stone facings. Designed before the advent of electricity, it is one of the last representatives of these monumental transparent structures where natural light is essential. The nave is 240 metres long and reaches a height of 45 metres. Its 9,000 tons of steel are painted Reseda green. The nave was listed as a historical monument in 1975.
