The German Fokker D-VII fighter

A formidable fighter aircraft designed by German Anthony Fokker during the First World War, the Fokker D.VII is a classic biplane with the N-bracing characteristic of Fokker aircraft. Its steel structure and wooden wings made of canvas like the fuselage made it an easy aircraft to build and repair. The particular shape of its wings allowed it to position itself under its enemies, nose up to the limit of the stall, and to fire with its two MG 08-15 7.92 mm machine guns into the unarmoured belly of the Allied reconnaissance aircraft. More than 3,000 of the Fokker D.VII were built.
