The village of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie is located on the mountainside in a north-south facing valley framed by the Montdenier massif to the east, the Valensole plateau to the west and a hilly plateau transition zone to the north. To the south, the valley of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie opens into the lake of Sainte-Croix. Very steep at the level of its summit bar, the Montdenier massif is also steep at the edge of this valley.
