The gardian saddle

The gardian saddle of Camargue is derived from the French model used as a battle saddle in the Middle Ages. Its main role is to ensure the best seat for the rider, thanks to its signature cantle in the form of a raised backrest. The curve of the cantle, as well as its extension, provides the gardian (herdsman) with the necessary support when crocheting (catching horses or bulls). The cantle is ribbed and padded on the inside to further improve the maintenance of the gardian perfectly wedged between the cantle and pommel.
