The Galas aqueduct bridge in its environment
0
0
Built between 1854 and 1857 to allow the Carpentras irrigation canal to span the Sorgue, the Galas aqueduct bridge is located in the municipality of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, the village of which can be seen upstream from the river. Such aerial shot allows going back to the Monts de Vaucluse and seeing the karst spring known as Gouffre de Fontaine-de-Vaucluse in the background, from which the Sorgue springs. It then crosses the village and flows between the wooded Vallat des Baumes Noires on the left and Vallon de la Croupière on the right before passing under the aqueduct bridge and continuing towards L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue.
